prime rib and black outs...

Monday night was just a bit interesting... Tony and I headed to our favorite hole-in-the-wall bar (Pierce St. Annex), where the VIPs were being treated to (or being guinea pigs for) a $5 prime rib dinner.  (They're thinking of holding a dinner ever monday night for $15 a plate, but needed people to test it out on...) In any case it was absolutely delicious.

We were home by 8:30 that night. It was pitch black. Seriously. All the lights in the apartment complex were out, and by the looks of things, had been for quite some time. People didnt' know what to do with themselves and were wandering around, wearing blankets and holding flashlights. Good thing we had picked up those 2 flashlights a while ago, when the fires were near. The definitely came in handy this night. I made my way to our apartment while Tony was parking his car. I'm standing in the doorway, trying to figure out the easiest path to the bathroom (where I knew one of the flashlights to be)...around the Xmas tree, over the piles, etc... cuz I can't see a BLASTED thing...when my phone rang. It was Tony. Woo-hoo...I used the light of my cell phone to see my way through our apartment, and it turns out Tony had called me for the very same reason...using the cell phone to guide him along his path home.

We found a few candles and lit them. Quite pretty, the way it cast the soft glow across our Christmas tree...so, of course, I had to grab the camera and take a few photos.

We weren't quite sure what to do with ourselves. Tony grabbed his guitar and started to play, so I joined in with some singing. That lasted a while, till Tony's fingers got a bit raw.

Then we decided to don our jackets and head out to the alleyway, where there was a clear view of the sky for a change. We gazed up the stars for a few minutes, trying to recall some basic constellations.

Back inside, where it was just about 10:30. And we were bored. No wonder people used to go to sleep so early in the past!
